Are you part of a franchise? No. A M Steel Buildings Ltd are proud of being independently ran. We perform our own structural calculations using specialist software developed by a local cold rolled structural engineer, and we design our own buildings. We believe being independently ran, we cut out 'the middle man' and are able to supply steel framed buildings for less cost than many of our competitors and offer a superior build quality.

Do I need planning permission for my new building? At AM Steel Buildings Ltd we strongly advise speaking to your local authority before starting any building work or placing any orders, regardless of building size, building use or location. To aid your initial planning query, we can supply you with drawings that are generally accepted by local authorities, that can be used for planning purposes. (The same drawings that come with our quotes). Normally planning takes around 8-12 weeks, but this figure can vary dependent on the type of building and location.

What is a cold rolled portal frame?Cold rolled portal frames consist of strong, lightweight C-sections and Z Purlins that are fully galvanized. They are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom using the latest software and machinery, achieving complete accuracy, resulting in straightforward and quick construction. Due to the light weight nature of cold rolled sections, heavy machinery during the erecting process isn’t always necessary. All cold rolled sections are cut to length and all relevant holes are predrilled with relevant labels attached. All our cold rolled portal frames are engineered following (BS5950-5) and (BS6399 Part 2) , and they are manufactured to BS EN 10346:2009 Fe E39G-Z275.

Will my building be structurally calculated? All frame work is designed in the United Kingdom following (BS5950-5) and (BS6399 Part 2) This takes into account the connections of the steel work, snow and wind loads, and loadings onto the concrete base. Our calculations are generally accepted by local building control. However, more in depth calculations can be obtained if required.
-
Are your buildings Tek screwed together? No. All our main frame, Z purlins and side rails are fully bolted together using pre drilled holes at the factory. This results in a strong frame that is straightforward to erect.
